Opening as Museum of Jesuit Missions in 1973, this historical monument built in the 18th century, served as police station, Royal Treasury and the first governor's residence. The prehistorical settlements, the Spaniard discovery and conquest, and the manufacture of the traditional clothing of South Californian ranchers are represented here. It houses a collection of religious paintings and sculptures, tillage tools, as well as 17th and 18th centuries weapons. The popular craft collection shows the skills of regional artisans.
