Admittance and Services

Visiting hours: Monday to Sunday from 8:00 to 20:00. Admission fee $31 MXP. Children under 13, students, teachers and senior citizens presenting a valid ID do not pay. Free admission on Sundays. There is a $30 MXP fee if you are willing to shoot with a videocamera. Guided tours, museum miniguide, bookstore.

Synopsis

The Baluarte de la Soledad Museum of Maya Architecture was inaugurated in 2004. The 18th century building that houses it was a fortification, and the most important on the four gateways of the walled city of Campeche, called Puerta de Mar (Sea Gateway). The collection includes Maya archaeological findings like stone sculptures, pottery, lintels and stelae from Edzna, Xcalumkin, Xculoc and Itzimte.
