Admittance and Services

Visiting hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00. Admission fee $41 MXP. Children under 13, students, teachers and senior citizens presenting a valid ID do not pay. Free admission on Sunday. There is a $30 MXP fee if you are willing to shoot with a videocamera. Temporary exhibitions, museum miniguide, auditorium, library, guided tours, educational workshops, summer courses, bookstore, cafeteria, parking lot. Student advisory.

Synopsis

Chiapas Regional Museum, opened in 1984, is located in a building that won an international architecture prize in 1985. The Maya cultural development and regional history  are represented here. There collection includes Prehispanic archaeological findings, like ceramic sculptures from Izapa, ethnographical objects and historical pieces like photographs and religious art.
